YOUR CHILD’S DAILY NEEDS

Items to Send with Your Child Each Day:

  • CLOTHING: Children should wear outdoor weather-appropriate clothing, including closed-toe shoes. No open-toed shoes, dress shoes, flip-flops, sandals, or crocs. Be sure to send a coat or jacket on colder days. Children go outside daily, weather permitting.

  • WATER BOTTLE: Upon enrollment, each child will receive a water bottle to keep at school. They will also need a personal water bottle brought from home, which will go home at the end of each day. Please wash, refill, and return it each day. Water only—no juices, milk, or shakes are permitted for children 3 and up.

  • LUNCHBOX WITH LUNCH & SNACKS: Please pack all lunch and snack items in a lunchbox with containers clearly labeled. Be sure to label both the lids and bottoms of all containers. We provide all utensils!

  • LARGE STUDENT BACKPACK: Send a backpack large enough to hold extra clothing, a lunchbox, a water bottle, and a small blanket to take home for washing. A well-sized backpack ensures your child can transport all their belongings, making it easier for staff to ensure everything is sent home. Staff will label the backpack with your child’s name at enrollment.

  • SUNSCREEN / INSECT REPELLANT: Apply daily before arrival.

For Toddler Classrooms (12 Months to 2 Years):

  • Labeled bottles pre-filled with formula or breast milk (with first name and last initial)

  • Labeled bottle caps (with first name and last initial)

  • Baby food, labeled and dated (with first name and last initial)

  • Diapers and wipes, labeled (with first name and last initial)

  • Diaper rash cream (form to apply must be signed), labeled (with first name and last initial)

  • 2-3 changes of clothing in a zip-lock bag, labeled (with first name and last initial)

  • Pacifier if needed (no animals with strings allowed on pacifiers, must be labeled with first name and last initial)

  • Appropriate outerwear such as coats, hats, sweaters, sweatshirts, or hoodies

For 2-Year-Old to 5-Year-Old Classrooms:

  • Labeled diapers or Pull-Ups (VELCRO SIDE OPENINGS ONLY)

  • Labeled wipes (with first name and last initial)

  • 2-3 changes of clothing, including socks and underwear (and a swimming suit for specified Water Days, when weather permits, labeled with first name and last initial)

  • Appropriate outerwear such as coats, hats, sweaters, sweatshirts, etc., labeled with first name and last initial

  • DO NOT SEND TOYS OR STUFFED ANIMALS

  • No electronics or valuable possessions should be brought to school

  • No weapons or weapon-like toys are allowed. Children may not bring or use toys or equipment that explode or shoot things, such as caps, BB guns, darts, or fireworks, either at the childcare center or on field trips

  • Children should not wear costumes to school without prior notice from administration or teaching staff.

CLOTHING & PERSONAL ITEMS

Due to the risk to the child, childcare licensing prohibits the use of students wearing any teething necklaces or using pacifiers with anything tethered to them (clip, stuffed animal etc.)

A New Day CDC also prohibits the use of any other jewelry to be worn at school. Examples include necklaces, bracelets, snap bracelets, etc.

Children should never bring electronic devices or personal toys to the school. Items brought from home can easily be damaged or lost and can also create unnecessary distractions within the classroom. A New Day CDC is not responsible for any item children bring to school.

All other personal belongings such as backpacks, lunchboxes, jackets, glasses, and sunscreen must be labeled with your child’s first and last name or initials. Please check with the staff to see if any of these items go missing. Items in the Lost and Found will be cleaned out periodically and donated to a charitable organization; parents will be notified in advance.

PLEASE BE SURE TO LABEL EVERYTHING

All outerwear without a name inside will be labeled by staff on the inside tag, as it is important to identify each child’s belongings. This also applies to water bottles, lunch boxes, and snack containers.

The responsibility for your child’s clothing rests with the parent(s)/guardian(s). Here are some guidelines specifically for preschoolers:

  • Provide clothing suitable for play, ideally with elastic waistbands and simple fasteners.

  • Label all removable clothing with your child’s name.

  • Expect your child to get messy, as play is an important part of their development.

  • Dress your child in clothing appropriate for play. While we try to keep clothing clean, accidents and messes are inevitable.

  • Children should not wear costumes to school unless special notice is given by administration or teaching staff.

  • Refrain from sending your child in Sunday dress shoes, sandals, Crocs, cowboy/cowgirl boots, or flip-flops, as these can hinder safe running and climbing. Sneakers are recommended for maximum safety and enjoyment on the playground.

Fight the Flu

What is Influenza?

Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that can range from mild to severe. Certain groups, including older adults, young children, and individuals with weakened immune systems, are at higher risk for serious flu complications.

Flu Symptoms May Include:

  • Fever and chills

  • Cough

  • Sore throat

  • Runny or stuffy nose

  • Muscle and body aches

  • Headaches

  • Fatigue

  • Vomiting and diarrhea (more common in children than adults)

How You Can Protect Yourself from the Flu:

  • Wash hands frequently

  • Cover coughs and sneezes

  • Stay home if you’re feeling unwell

  • Clean common surfaces such as doorknobs and handles

  • Get an annual flu vaccine

  • Take antiviral medications if prescribed by your doctor

On behalf of our team at A New Day Child Development Center, we sincerely thank everyone who so generously showered us with gifts during the holiday season. Your kindness and thoughtfulness mean the world to us, and we truly appreciate your support.

2025 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

To ensure the well-being of your child, it is essential that our team maintains both physical and emotional health. Our school follows a carefully planned budget to meet its financial obligations on time, and the following holidays and school closures will be observed as paid holidays. We will provide advance notice of these dates through posted memos. If a holiday falls on a weekend, the day off will be observed on either the preceding Friday or the following Monday.

Please note that there will be NO reduction in tuition for these scheduled breaks, as our fixed costs are averaged over the entire year. We recommend keeping a copy of the calendar below for reference to help your family plan accordingly.
