Spring is here, and along with it comes major changes! The children will explore chicks hatching, leaves and grass emerging, and the shift in weather patterns. They will experience an abundance of Easter-related activities as well.

PRESCHOOL

THE WORLD OF ART:

ACTIVITIES FOR HOME

•Read a book about spring with your child. Look carefully at the pictures. What symbols of spring are portrayed in the book – rain, flowers, birds, bugs? Go for a walk with your child to look for signs of spring. If you live in an area with snowy winters, has the snow melted? Look for trees turning green, flowers sprouting, and any other signs of spring in your area. Talk about the different colors in each of the flowers. Are all of the blossoms shaped the same? How does each flower smell? Are birds building nests? How many different shades of green can you find?

•Show your child that you value her artwork. Encourage her to tell you about her artwork. Start the conversation by saying, “Tell me about your picture.” Provide art materials and see what your young artist creates at home. Place the materials in an easy-to-reach space so your child can choose to do art on her own. Display the artwork on your refrigerator or another special place at home and at work. The more time children spend creating art, the more they enjoy it!

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Children enjoy celebrating their birthdays with friends at school. You may celebrate your child’s birthday during the afternoon snack time on a day that is prearranged with the school. Parents are asked to send the invitations at least one week in advance so that the other parents have a whole week to shop for a gift.  This will also give parents who have children on a special diet time to bring their child an alternative snack on that day!

We ask that you keep it simple by serving a cookie cake and juice boxes for drinks.  If you are planning a party for your child outside of school and do not intend to invite the whole class, invitations must be emailed to the individual student’s parents.

Easter

EATER EGG HUNT

The children will be having an Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday,  April 13th.  Please be sure to send your child 6 plastic filled eggs along with their Easter Egg basket on or before Thursday, April 13th.   We will be having the Easter Egg hunt starting in the morning for each class separately.  Due to the number of children enrolled, we must limit this for students only.

COURTESY PHONE CALL:

If your child will not be attending for the day, please be sure to call the school at 512-264-7373 to let the staff know before 8:30 am..

ARRIVALS & DISMISSALS

All children are asked to arrive at A New Day CDC before 8:15 a.m. Each parent/guardian will be required to clock in each child upon arriving in the morning and again at the end of the each day.  Teachers start the curriculum daily at 8:30 and if your child is not here by that time, they are missing the most important part of the day.

CHANGE OF CLOTHES

Please be sure to check your child’s cubby to make sure that they have the correct change of clothes for this season.  Simple clothing that is washable will allow your child to participate comfortably in playground activities, and messy art activities. Each child must wear tennis shoes. Velcro ties are  preferred.  For safety reasons, no sandals, Crocs or open toed shoes please.

SUNSCREEN / INSECT REPELLANT & OUTDOOR HAT

Please be sure to send your child a bottle of sunscreen along with a bottle of insect repellant.  Now that the weather is getting warmer, please be sure to put sunscreen on your child each morning before sending them to school.  We will re-apply  later again in the afternoons but ask that you put it on them before sending them to school as well.  Also since the sun can be really hot, we are asking that you send your child some type of hat to protect them from the sun while we are outdoors.

YOUR CHILD’S LUNCH & SNACKS

When packing your child’s lunch and snacks for the day, please be sure to send a lunch and a snack for the day and make sure you send something you know they will eat. Make sure that all meat, vegetables and fruit are cut to a child’s bite size portion and that cold items are separate from anything that needs to be warmed up. Please also peel or cut each child’s fruit for them when preparing lunch and snacks for the day. Apples that are big should be cut up and sliced so that they will be able to eat some for lunch and the rest for snack.

Please also be sure to send your child’s water bottle filled up with water!

 PRESCHOOL REFERRALS

PARENT REFERRAL PROGRAM

The highest compliment our parents can pay us is the referral of family or friends for childcare at our school.  The trust and confidence that you place in us each and every day means a great deal.  In appreciation of that trust and confidence, we are excited to share our Parent Referral Program once again.  You will receive $200 tuition credit for every new enrollment as a result of your referral. Each time a child is enrolled as a result of your recommendation to other parents, you will receive a $200 tuition credit after that child is enrolled for 4 weeks.
