THIS MONTH’S THEMES

EATING THE RAINBOW

Fruits and veggies are some of the healthiest foods you can eat, and they come in a rainbow of colors!  The children will explore color, taste and texture in this deliciously healthy theme.

SAND AND SEA

Dive into the deep blue sea and explore the creatures that call it home.  Information about whales, dolphins, starfish, sharks, and crabs make this theme a big splash.

ACTIVITIES FOR HOME

•As you shop for groceries, allow your child to look, touch, and smell the different kinds of fruits and vegetables.  Talk about what each item is called and what it taste like.

•Visit a local aquarium, zoo, the seashore, or pet store with your child.  Point out the various fish and sea life.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Children enjoy celebrating their birthdays with friends at school. You may celebrate your child’s birthday during the afternoon snack time on a day that is prearranged with the school. Parents are asked to send the invitations at least one week in advance so that the other parents have a whole week to shop for a gift.  This will also give parents who have children on a special diet time to bring their child an alternative snack on that day!

We ask that you keep it simple by serving a cookie cake and juice boxes for drinks.  If you are planning a party for your child outside of school and do not intend to invite the whole class, invitations must be emailed to the individual student’s parents.

PLANTS FOR OUR GARDEN

The children will be planting flowers in our garden starting on Monday, April 2, 2018.  Please send your child a plant of their choice the week of April 2-April 6th so they can help plant it and watch it grow.

You can send anything from succulents,  flowers, veggies or even a fruit plant for your child to help put in our garden.

friendly-reminder

COURTESY PHONE CALL:

If your child will not be attending for the day, please be sure to call the school at 512-264-7373 to let the staff know before 8:30 am.

ARRIVALS & DISMISSALS

All children are asked to arrive at A New Day CDC before 8:15 a.m. Each parent/guardian will be required to clock in each child upon arriving in the morning and again at the end of the each day.  Teachers start the curriculum daily at 8:30 and if your child is not here by that time, they are missing the most important part of the day.

The cut-off time to drop off  your child at school for the day is 9:45 am.  If your child is not at school by 9:45 am, please be sure to keep them at home for the day. Bringing them in any later is disruptive to the class.

PART-TIME ENROLLMENT

Due to the limited amount of students in each class, you are not allowed to bring your child to school on another day to make up for a holiday or sick day.  If you would like to add an extra drop-in day, please be sure to call Irma and see if there is availability in their classroom.

PRE-REGISTRATION FOR THE 2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR

In order to help us determine the number of openings in each class for the 2018-2019 school year, please complete and return the enclosed pre-registration application ASAP. This application can be used for younger brothers and sisters whom you wish to enroll for the next school year or anyone else that you would like to refer. Please note that your child’s yearly supply fee will be due by August 1, 2018.

You do not have to pay this fee at this time. If you do not plan to send your child back to A New Day Child Development Center for the next school year, please fill out that portion of the form.

CHANGE OF CLOTHES

Please be sure to check your child’s cubby to make sure that they have the correct change of clothes for this season.  We have several children who do not have any extra clothing in their cubbies or they have outgrow the clothes in there.

Simple clothing that is washable will allow your child to participate comfortably in playground activities, and messy art activities. Each child must wear tennis shoes. Velcro ties are  preferred.  For safety reasons, no sandals, Crocs or open toed shoes please.

SUNSCREEN / INSECT REPELLANT & OUTDOOR HAT

Please be sure to send your child a bottle of sunscreen along with a bottle of insect repellant.  Now that the weather is getting warmer, please be sure to put sunscreen on your child each morning before sending them to school.  We will re-apply  later again in the afternoons but ask that you put it on them before sending them to school as well.  Also since the sun can be really hot, we are asking that you send your child some type of hat to protect them from the sun while we are outdoors.

YOUR CHILD’S LUNCH & SNACKS

When packing your child’s lunch and snacks for the day, please be sure to send a lunch and a snack for the day and make sure you send something you know they will eat. Please be sure to prepare Mac & Cheese at home and we will warm it up in the microwave for lunch. Make sure that all meat, vegetables and fruit are cut to a child’s bite size portion and that cold items are separate from anything that needs to be warmed up. Please also peel or cut each child’s fruit for them when preparing lunch and snacks for the day. Apples that are big should be cut up and sliced so that they will be able to eat some for lunch and the rest for snack.  Grapes  should be cut in half or in quarters to prevent choking.

 PRESCHOOL REFERRALS

PARENT REFERRAL PROGRAM

The highest compliment our parents can pay us is the referral of family or friends for childcare at our school.  The trust and confidence that you place in us each and every day means a great deal.  In appreciation of that trust and confidence, we are excited to share our Parent Referral Program once again.  You will receive $200 tuition credit for every new enrollment as a result of your referral. Each time a child is enrolled as a result of your recommendation to other parents, you will receive a $200 tuition credit after that child is enrolled for 4 weeks.
